Meet Finn

Finn Dickens is an Austin-based pianist working across jazz, classical, and contemporary styles. He began his training at Armstrong Community Music School before focusing on jazz and improvisation, earning First Chair Pianist honors in the TPSMEA All-State Jazz Band and recognition as a finalist in the Butler Texas Young Composer’s Concert. He graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in 2020.
At the University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music, Finn studied contemporary composition before concentrating on jazz performance under Ross Margitza. He performed with the UT Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Diego Rivera and with the Alternative Improv Music Ensemble. During his senior year, he began accompanying ballet, expanding his work into dance collaboration.
In addition to jazz and ballet, Finn performs regularly with country artist Coleman Jennings. As a member of the Coleman Jennings band, he has appeared on bills with artists including Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam. He also performs with various rock, pop, R&B, and country projects throughout Austin.
